Stow Wengenroth

Stow Wengenroth (b. 1906, Brooklyn, NY/d. 1978, Rockport, MA), a draughtsman and craftsman, began lithography in 1929. He spent his life exploring the range of the lithographic stone, working commercially and as a fine printmaker. He made studies in dry brush drawing, then line drawing, before committing the subject to stone. His subjects include views of harbors, coves, lighthouses, buildings, and the plant and animal life of the Northeast.

Publications: author, “Making a Lithograph”, 1936; co-author, “Stow Wengenroth’s New England” , 1969. His work is represented at the Boston Museum of Fine Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York City.
