From the artist's website:
Gil has been a freelance illustrator and cartoonist and has taught classes in drawing and painting. He was, for many years, Senior Graphic Designer and Staff Illustrator for a Fortune 500 corporation in the heart of New England. Gil brings to his work a sensitive awareness of design impact and textual clarity.

His landscapes and still lifes are characterized by a tightly controlled handling of lights and shadows intermingled with exquisite detail. His paintings are in oil on gessoed, untempered masonite, using an underpainting / overpainting technique characteristic of the Old Masters.

Gil's works hang in numerous private and public collections, including the Slater Museum, the New Britain Museum and the Mattatuck Museum. He has taught open-ended private classes, programmed classes and adult education programs.

His seasoned technique evokes feelings of nostalgia for a time of hard work and great self-reliance. Early New England comes alive under his brush.
