Portrait of Parnel Kelsey (1781-1860) by her husband, George Munger (1781-1825). They married in 1802. Their two daughters, Clarissa and Caroline, are pictured at flic.kr/p/QH6Sxy and flic.kr/p/PjyWmy
The gold leaf frame is 37 3/4" x 32 3/4". Parnel's face is surrounded by a white ruffled headpiece. Handwritten labels on the back of the frame say, "Bequeathed to Cynthia Ann Barker by Emma Munger Foote {relatives of donor}. To be given to Madison Historical Society". A stencil on the back of the canvas has, "Prepared by Edward Dechaun New York".
USA origin, oil on canvas, c.1820. Picture is 29 1/2" x 24 1/2". Portrait was restored by Yost Conservation LLC in May 2018 with funds collected in the community..
