Large cast iron mortar with flowerpot-shaped round body with cast-in floral design. Its style, large size and some dark green paint visible on outside surface indicate it may have been used by an apothecary. Linear casting dam on bottom. Top diameter 7", bottom diameter 6 1/2", 6" tall. Weighs about 20lbs
Hand-wrought pestle with peened-over head, 1/2" diameter rod shape for 4" and then a squared-off 5/8" shape, ending in a hand-welded ball shaped pestle end roughly 1 1/2" with fine cross-hatches on bottom surface to assist grinding. 11" long.
