Captain Jabez Lane

1755 (Date manufactured/created)

Uniform coat of Captain Jabez Lane of the CT Colonial Militia. Captain Lane was killed on the Killingworth Parade grounds on May 5, 1755. There is some question about the age of this coat as it is a small size and the buttons have an eagle and 13 stars engraved on them, which would indicate that this coat was made after the Revolutionary War. There is a letter in the Congregational Church historical collection stating that the coat belonged to Jazeb Lane. Coat is made of wool.
