34 Star United States Flag made by Jerusha Benton Parmelee of Killingworth in 1861 when Kansas was admitted as the 34th State. The late Edgar G. Watrous of Killingworth acquired the flag from the Norman Parmelee House on Route 81, the home of the late Mr. & Mrs. John HIne. The flag was given by Mr. & Mrs. Edward Hennen of Killingworth through the Killingworth Library. They acquired it from the late Mr. watrous. Acquired 10/24/1969 The flag is made of muslin for the white stripes and red wool for the red striped. The 34 white muslin stars are placed on blue cotton fabric and in the shape of a star. The flag is completely hand stitched.
