Casette Tape #20 containing an audio recording taped on Feb. 2, 1962 by Kenneth Barber for the Windsor Historical Society. Grace Lucretia Clapp (1881-1965) reads her paper describing the history of the Hayden Station village of Windsor, CT. The recording runs for 38 minutes. It was recorded at Miss Clapp's home at 1245 Palisado Ave., Windsor. Her topics include Hayden Station's early settlers, homesteads, and taverns; the church communities; schools; Hayden Station Social Club; agriculture and local businesses; changes created by the railroad; and notable citizens. The casette tape was reformatted in 2012 by John Berky into an audio CD in mp3 format and archival .wav files 2012.32.13 and 2012.32.14. wav files at M:\Oral Histories62.31_CLAPP. Her manuscipt is #1962.31.2. A copy of the manuscript has been created in Microsoft Word by WHS staff and volunteers. In large part it corresponds accurately to the audio recording. However, Miss Clapp notes one error in particular which she corrected after the recording was made: on page 11 she refers to the trolley using dates of 1903-1926 rather than 1940.
