Framed sepia toned photograph of 96 Palisado Avenue, now the Strong House, formerly the Fyler House, thought to be taken prior to the demolition of the western chimney (visible on the right side of the photograph) in 1887-1888. Shows the northern facade of the house. Has a toned mat and cove molded wooden frame. Donated by the then-resident of the house, Frank Denslow. The accession record reads: Photograph of house at the South end of Palisado Green facing North upon the green. The original house is the gambel [sic] roofed section, the ell on the right and the porch on the left being old but still of modern construction. The gambrel roofed house of which the north side is seen faced the Ferry Lane indicating it to have been built before the present main highway was built (about 1795) and is on the site, if it is not the original house built by Sergant Walter Flyer, one of the earliest settlers, Flyer's well still is in use in the kitchen yard of the house. A Mrs Sherry, the Misses Stiles, A.R. Wells and Frank Denslow have owned and occupied the house in recent years in the order name, Mr. Denslow being the present owner. The first post-office in Windsor was housed here the letter slot opening still shows in the front door. Photographed [sic] presented by Mr. Frank Denslow. June 1922. Removed from frame.
