The last notation in the book is "William Phelps grandfather of Eli Phelps, Jr. died Sept. 22, 1885 - His wife died Dec. 12th the following". In addition to the usual Windsor/Poquonock names it is interesting to see Irish names, like Patrick Faylon, Michael Fitzgerald, and Richard Norris (notations are made concerning the hiring of people with Irish surnames.) This book probably belonged to Eli Phelps, Jr. (1807-1879) of Poquonock, a farmer and Windsor Representative to the Connecticut Legislature.
